You may have heard some buzz around Popular Pays that we’re making a change in the way we run our platform. If you’ve been around for a while, you know us as the middleman between content creators and brands, with a Popular Pays manager associated with each campaign. While we will still continue to run some of our campaigns this way, we’re also introducing a way for brands to work directly with creators, using our software as a service.
When a brand uses our software as a service or SaaS, they are running the gig largely on their own. From application to payment, a member of the brands’ team will be able to connect, collaborate and track the campaign process. So how will this affect you? Good question. We’re here to clear up some confusion right off the bat.
Messaging with Threads.
Threads vs. Campaign Messenger
We’ve shared with you our exciting new product, Threads. With Threads, a brand can reach out to a creator outside of the context of a campaign to start a conversation. From creative ideation, to negotiation, payment, contracts, due dates, and photo uploads; the whole campaign flow can take place within one Thread. Our goal is to create a space for brands and creators to foster long-term relationships, shifting away from the one-off commoditization of the creative community.
It’s important to note that Threads are different than the traditional campaign messenger you may be used to. Threads will be found in it’s separate icon in the platform, while campaign messages will continue to live within the context of a campaign. When a brand is working with several creators at once, they will run our traditional campaign, with the ability to message all of their creators within a campaign in the campaign messenger. Another key difference is that you are not able to upload content in the campaign messenger thread, all assets will need to be uploaded within the campaign.
Briefs
We’ve made changes to the briefs so the most important information is always highlighted at the top. Remember, a brief is a legal contract, so it’s worth your time to read through it in its entirety before submitting your application. With the introduction of our new product features, briefs may begin to change shape, and requirements and deliverables may begin to change as well. Be sure to take a close look at your gig brief before you apply to make sure you know exactly what you’re agreeing to.

Communication Counts
We’re all about keeping it light around here while remembering that this is a professional setting. We know it can sometimes be easy to forget there’s an actual human on the other side of an online exchange. We are constantly doing our best to communicate with our brands, creators, competitors, social network partners, and each other with kindness, patience, and respect. We ask that our brands and creators do the same to encourage a positive creative exchange to keep the platform running as smoothly as possible!
